Go Figure

Go Figure! The day started with a very early morning trip to the Rutland train station instead of gearing up for a great snowy day on the hill. Instead of getting to enjoy the glorious dump of snow a few of the boys had plans to head south for thanksgiving weekend a little early. Crazy how 3500 feet of elevation can make a difference!

From Sunday...

Chris spins one of his many 540's.

Sunday was a bluebird day. Kinda busy, but definitely a good day to be riding. The team welcomed guest rider Ben VanPut from the Killington Ski Club. KSC programs start in December, so Ben was able to get a little taste of what KMS is like on the hill and at the school since he joined us for lunch too. Most of the day was spent in the Mouse Run park on Snowdon.

Friday... a good day!

The team hit the gym for a 7:30am morning sport. Half an hour of preparation for an extra good day on the hill!!! Conditions were mint due to the extensive snowmaking that Killington has been pumping out over that past chilly week. Snow was good, the sun was out, and the park crew even set up a new park on Snowdon's Mouse Run. The guys were killing it on the features today and got a chance to ride some of the new C rails! The team gets to rest tomorrow and will be back on the mountain Sunday.

BACK ON SNOW!

The mountain opened as planned and the team hit the slopes early this morning. Temperatures were in the teens and the guns were blowing on the lower part of the mountain. We spent most of our time freeriding in the canyon since the park was not up and running.

November 11-17

The team was busy training despite the mountain being closed. Activities besides working out in the gym included trampoline, ice skating, bowling, and a killer hike up and down Bear Mountain to check out the new "Stash" snowboard park. A great week and a great day tomorrow since the word is the mountain is due to reopen.

Sunday - Monday

Sunday - November 9th

It was all school field sport at the "Killington Fields"... AKA the Sherburne Rec Center fields. The snowboard team, J1-2 alpine team, girls alpine team, and J3 alpine team all participated in various events together.

After warm-up the school divided in 4 random groups and shared some knowledge about themselves to one another. Sports for the day included speedball, soccer, and everybody's favorite... obstacle course relay. Parker Gray(Head J1-2 coach) also introduced a new school hit... "The Slack Line". It was such a big hit, the school now has a permanent line set up behind the school so that the athletes can have an ultimate balance training tool at their disposal.

Monday - November 10th

The 3 Amigos became the 4 Amigos yesterday when prospective athlete Dom joined the team for our early morning workout. The team began their weight training regimine with focus on lower body and core. We even exhausted our legs finishing the guts of the workout with some 'box' jump training.

Thursday - Friday

Yesterday the team completed their physical testing. They were a bit sore from the 12 minute test on Wednesday, but after yesterday, they are now REALLY sore! Judging by some of the results... it seems not everyone did their October homework?!?! All and all they did pretty well and now have a better idea of the work that lies ahead of them.

WHAT WE DID TODAY
by, Maxwell Allen Elles

We the snowboard team of KMS ventured deep into the suburbs of Rutland. We joined our forces with the J1-2 men and women alpine teams to buy ice time at the Rutland Fieldhouse. Eddie Enriquez showed off his hockey skills as he tooled on all the other teams. We also played capture the flag and British Bulldog. Afterwards we jumped across town and stopped at Dunkin Doughnuts for fuel. 36 doughnuts four ways in 10 minutes, accomponied by half a dozen energy drinks.

I have you know that last bit has no truth since I did not have 1 donut!

Tuesday - Wednesday

The 3 Amigos were able to continue taking advantage of early season snow yesterday. We spent the majority of our training session filming on the flat down box in the Canyon Park. Lots of hiking and sliding and tired bodies by the end of the day. Upon return to the school we held a video review in the office.

Max using the box as a make shift gummy stone on his new Burton UnInc.

Today we combined with the Alpine J1-2 boys and conducted our 12 minute run test down at the Rutland track. Afterwords we played a mixed game of speed ball and flag football. The 3 Amigos will be resting well tonight.

Hasta Luego!

KMS SNOWBOARD TEAM - 1ST DAY 2008-2009

Hooray for Killington! Hooray for Snow! Hooray for the KMS Snowboard Team!

It was not the best weather for riding, but it certainly was the best opening day for KMS riders. The team was able to enjoy excellent snow and a decent park on their first day of school. Never has the team been able to get away without doing dry land or testing on the first day. We took full advantage of great early season terrain and got some quality time back on snow. The rust came off their edges and form early in the training session. The focus of the day was to just get back on the snow and have as much fun as possible.

The team consists of Ed Enriquez, Max Elles, and newcomer Chris Boera. This group has amazing chemistry and has so much potential for success this year. The team stepped up a notch in its competition belt by registering for all Revolution Tour Events. The "Rev Tour" is one step below the US Grand Prix series. So we are moving on up! They will also be competiting in USASA Central Vermont series to qualify USASA Nationals in Copper, CO.

Keep informed and keep blogging!
