2-29-2008 BRRR... BUT BEAUTIFUL!!!

The rumor at morning sport was that temperatures were at minus 20 degrees. But we breathed a sigh of relief on our way to Bear Mountain as the temperatures began to climb out of the negative. Snow conditions were perfect with not a cloud in the sky. The team trained mostly in the Bear Trap Park with the exception of one cruiser down to the Skyship. We also made sure to cheer on fellow KMS athletes from the Freestyle Team that were competing in the Halfpipe. The KMS Snowboard Team will be competing Slopestyle and Halfpipe at Okemo tomorrow. Tao Smith(KMS Head of School) will be in attendance. See you there!

2-28-2008 OKEMO Training

O-whydidIgo-KEMO... I'll tell you why... to train some pipe and hit the slopestyle course that the team will be competing on this Saturday. It was another beautiful blue bird day and the team trained hard in the pipe and on the jump in the park. Ed worked mainly on perfecting his 3s but even managed to sneak in a 5. The girls rode the pipe hard and worked on amplitude and grabs. It was a productive day of training and worth the trip down 100. Lets see what hardware the team brings home this Saturday. We missed you Max... hope to see you riding soon.

2-27-2008 Powder Town

It was an epic day of sorts... unfortunately 3 riders were missing due to illness and missed a true Killington powder day. We rode most of the day at Bear. Emilie lead the way for Allison down Devils Fiddle and in the woods. Lots of laughs, grins, spills and thrills.

2-26-2008 Spin City

Today was a break through day for all. Everybody worked on their spins... Allison 180, Emilie 360, and Ed 360. The team stayed in the Timberline Park and hiked one of the better jumps in hopes of perfecting their rotational skills. It was nice to see the team work hard and take a beating to stick some solid jumps. Tim Sullivan(Class of 2007) was on hand to watch and give some feedback to the team. Tim is taking a year off before college and is on the park crew staff at Killington.

MT SNOW Slopestyle 2-23-2008 Southern Style

A few riders decided to compete in some other competitions outside the Central Vermont Series this weekend. The team headed down to Mt. Snow for the Southern Vermont Series Slopestyle. There were over a hundred competitors there for the event and the tough competition helped push the athletes to greater levels of riding. All KMS riders performed well and Emilie Gorham even managed to take home the SILVER. It was also a reunion of sorts... former KMS riders Thomas Tikos-Kadji and Randall Stacy were able to catch up with Eddie and coach Ian. Tomorrow the girls plan on heading back down to Mt. Snow for the last SVSS Halfpipe competition, while the boys will stay at their home mountain for The Dead Presidents Rail Jam at Bear.

2-21-2008 PHOTO DAY

Thursday was a bluebird day! The team was fortunate to have Justin Cash in town with some of his camera gear. We headed over to Bear and captured some pretty nice images. Allison was hitting the rails and pipe really well, while Max and Eddie perfected their wall riding skills. For now... you can view a few of the images on Justins Blog. www.justincashphotography.blogspot.com
Below are some of the images I was able to get before Justin had me holding up some lighting.
The team got a good lesson on how a photo shoot can work and were pumped to see the results. Everybody was pushing themselves and managed to do some pretty sweet tricks that I had not seen them do before. Many thanks go out to Justin. We appreciate your time and support with the team.
