POWER POOP

Last nights forecast was right on the money. Heavy snow and freezing rain, but the only thing they didn't count on was the power going out. The mountain remains closed this morning due to the conditions and lack of power. The team stayed in and conducted a relaxed video review session on Eddies computer.

On another note...

Max brought in a bag of poop

And the boys proceeded to wear it

Last year Mark "Flannel" Baker, owner of the Vermont Flannel Company helped support the KMS/KSC snowboard teams out at Nationals. In an attempt to further our growing relationship, Mark is in the process of developing special KMS flannels. To show our appreciation and raise some money, the members of the snowboard team are selling POOP (Protest Outrageous Oil Profits) shirts for $12 and are available to everyone.

PAYING THEIR DUES... OUCH!

The team was back in action Thursday after yesterdays wash out. Ex-KSC riders Julien Mear and Wyatt Mosher joined us for the afternoon session. We started our day with a few runs from the peak and then a bunch more in the Mouse Run park. Conditions were a bit slick and tricky which didn't seem to help the team out this afternoon. Chris and Max both took minor tumbles in the park which they managed to shake off, although Max's board might have a different story. We finished the day with core and an upper body workout in the gym... followed with a bag of ice.

GONDOLA KIND OF DAY

Monday... or shall I say... Funday? Burrrday? Not quite sure but it was pretty cold out this morning. In fact, it was zero degrees when we drove to the hill and it felt even colder when we were ripping down from the top. It was nice to see the team turn into a bunch of power hounds and look for all the sweet pockets of fresh snow that lay all about the mountain. We took a bunch of top to bottom runs from the peak and even took a break from the cold and enjoyed some hot cocoa. We were even blessed by the presence of math teacher extraordinaire... Kim Gaines. She hung with the pack every turn of the way and even hit one of the boxes in the terrain park on Mouse Run... literally! Just kidding Kim, you know you rock! All and all, despite the freezing temps... it was a Funday!

The team was content to pose for a picture with Kim "The Math Teacher"... until she started giving a lesson on parabolas... then Eddie took off.

Freeride/Freeski Sunday

Sunday was freeride day for the team. Chris was able to ride with his home town friend and KMS classmate Dan Sullivan from the freestyle ski team. Eddie got to ride with friend and prior KSC rider Tom Dworak. And then there was Max...

OSCAR THE CLOUD

Oscar does not seem to be one of those popular names. When I hear the name Oscar, it makes me think of the Academy Awards or the grouch from Sesame Street. Max told me a story about an Oscar on the way to the mountain and it turns out that Oscar is a cloud that hangs over Killington peak. Oscar played peek-a-boo all morning long and despite his grumpy nature, there were moments of sunshine with excellent riding conditions. Ed was out on assignment but Max and Chris were able to work on their spins and hit some of the parks boxes and rails.

GRAY TO BLUEBIRD

The sun decided to shine this morning for training. We started up the Snowdon Quad(possibly the slowest quad in the world) and headed to the park to shoot some video. Conditions were still on the firm side but everyone still hit the majority of the features... some harder than others. As hard as everyone fell at one point or another throughout the day, we all had many smiles and laughs. Training consisted of half the day in the park and the other half free riding on the upper mountain trying to caputure some photos while taking advantage of the great bluebird sky. Afternoon sport is planned for 5 PM and with the bruised bodies we will focus on more of a recovery workout.

Riding up the K1.

ANOTHER GRAY DAY IN THE HOOD

The team trained in the afternoon time slot today. Chris, Max, and Eddie made the best of the session despite the firm and unforgiving conditions. Everyone was hitting the C-Rails and getting more comfortable with them after each run. Team friend and photographer extraordinaire Justin Cash even got to take a few runs with the crew. Mr. Cash is planning on a team shoot in the near future. After riding the team hit the gym for afternoon sport. The workout included spinning on the bikes, (DFM)Dynamic Flexibility and Mobility, weight lifting, core, and stretching. Team training for Wednesday is scheduled at 9 AM.

DECEMBER 1st!

Ahhhh... back to the hill! The KMS Snowboard Team enjoyed their first official day back from Thanksgiving break. Super fogged in early, plus the park was barely open. The park on Snowdon had only 2 box features available upon arrival. So we headed up to the peak and rode other parts of the mountain until the park crew had the rest of the park safely set up.

Fogged in at the top of Superstar.

Eddie got to try out his new Skate Banana deck and the verdict was a positive one. He felt it had tons of pop and rode extremely quick.
